Thornton Pop Music Songwriting 3 Midterm

A few weeks ago I photographed a night of original tunes from the fabulous Songwriting 3 class in the Thornton School of Music Popular Music Program. Instructor Chris Sampson introduced the talented students, and event stepped in to jam with Josh Goldberg on his song! It was a wonderful night. Here are some of my favorite images. The Offspring- Dexter Holland- USC Pop Forum

Today, I had the pleasure of photographing Dexter Holland's visit to USC Thornton School of Music Popular Music Program's Pop Forum. Holland spent the afternoon chatting with program director Chris Sampson about his life, experiences in the industry, and what is coming in the future for him. He shared his start at USC with the students- his band formed on the seventh floor of Birnkrant dormitory at USC, where he was pre-med. He fielded questions from the audience of aspiring music stars, explaining such concepts as how to keep energy up onstage and how to manage a band. After the talk, he graciously met with students as they shook hands, signed autographs, and shared individual experiences. It was a great visit!
